City Chic

When Deb began working with a young Chicago family to redecorate their first home, she embraced the opportunity to guide them into the world of interior design.

She introduced them to the essentials of styling, helping them discover their unique design vision while prioritizing warmth and comfort within their space. Deb transformed their Lake View residence into a cozy and inviting home. Clean lines and understated details beautifully blend with vibrant colors, creative patterns, and unique artwork, all thoughtfully placed to maximize their impact. The strategic use of texture and lighting further enhances the timeless design.

This project exemplifies an ability to deliver a breathtakingly exquisite design while respecting the client’s financial considerations.

As Deb says, “It’s all in the mix and how you play it. ” By leveraging her knowledge of shape and form, Deb breathes new life into some more accessible pieces, reimagining them with custom furnishings and exclusive to the trade finishes. The result is a luxuriously balanced design that exudes elegance and aligns with the client’s vision and needs.

The request was warm and elegant — a true luxury home glow-up. This is how we turned a builder's spec home into a unique and personalized residence: shifting paint from stark white to layered off-white, adding custom drapery, and infusing jewel-tones, velvets, tapestries, linens, bouclés, and tweeds. Chrome and glass finishes gave way to black nickel, brass, plaster, and crystal.

Wallpaper and statement art in different mediums brought depth and personality, while key details were reimagined for a timeless, high-end look.

Foyer

Transition shot of the living room and foyer. The foyer features a laser-cut, gold grounded Phillip Jeffries wallcovering, a STARK Carpet runner, CB2 convex mirror, and Chapman & Myers wall sconce. This photo also shows a closer look of the side table and CB2 chair. “A warm welcome that seamlessly flows into the living room and beyond, this foyer offers an inviting transition that sets the tone for the home. The entryway is wrapped in a wallcovering composed of laser-cut wood layered atop a gold ground — a surface that glistens with depth, warmth, and natural beauty. Its luminous texture creates a dramatic yet refined backdrop, instantly elevating the space. The foyer’s traditional architectural details are balanced with mid-century and classically designed furnishings, creating a dialogue between timeless form and modern expression. This thoughtful mix allows the foyer to flow effortlessly into the living room, uniting the spaces with sophistication and ease.”

Family Room

The family room includes a CB2 floor lamp, Jonathan Adler fine art print, and Room & Board ottomans. The rug is from The Rug Company. “When asked to warm up this Lake View home, we suggested incorporating rich jewel tones, and our clients enthusiastically agreed. The coziness of this room is rooted in the layering of textures and plush upholstery, enveloped by vanilla walls. Designed for comfort and connection, the custom sofa offers space for the family and their guests to stream their favorite shows or simply relax together. Thoughtful furniture choices allow for easy rearranging of seating and ottomans to adapt seamlessly to any need or occasion.”

Dining Room

The dining room chairs are reupholstered in a floral Liberty velvet fabric. The walnut table is from Crate & Barrel. The chandelier is by Niermann Weeks. The bespoke bench against the wall is upholstered in Pierre Frey fabric. The optical illusionary wall sculpture is from Jonathan Adler, and the still-life photograph is by Thierry Genay.
